The concept of the project is inspired by Marc Augé's book "Non-places. Introduction to an anthropology of supermodernity." Those spaces of anonymity that are more numerous every day and frequented by similar but lonely individuals. Non-places are both the infrastructures for fast transportation(highways, stations, airports) and the means of transportation themselves (cars, trains, planes). Nonplaces are supermarkets, large hotel chains with their… interchangeable rooms interchangeable, but also the refugee camps where are parked indefinitely the refugees from war and misery. The non-place is the opposite of a dwelling, a residence, a a place in the common sense of the term. And its anonymity, paradoxically, is accessed only by providing proof of one's identity: passport, credit card. Through my project I expanded this idea to mental places as well, where feelings and memories combine to recreate that situation of nonplace.
Nicolas Crocetti, with an independent and international background, uses photography, installation, and aluminum printing. His technique ranges from abstraction, plays with light and reflection, industrial surfaces, and a continuous hybridization of materials to create physical and conceptually profound works. His works evoke the alienation and fragmentation of digital perception, inviting the viewer to reflect on the relationship between reality and the screen, offering an intense and dialogical sensorial experience.
