About this artwork
The work satirizes U.S. paranoia around immigration through… a Canadian lens. Despite close histories and cultures, familiarity can give way to suspicion, and neighbors can become imagined threats. Born from rising U.S. authoritarianism and reports of Canadians detained inhumanely by ICE, the painting captures the quiet terror of systems that wield power through fear. Greens and blues evoke bureaucratic authority, while ongoing raids push the work beyond satire into urgent commentary.
