Some pieces inhabit The artist studio and as the surrounding change so do the works of art.
This piece began after Nistka's first visit to Moreton Bay and learning about the Gubbi Gubbi Tribe of Southeastern Queensland.
He came back to his studio in Sunshine Beach and began working on the piece laying down colors and shapes with a mindful eye towards the organic colors of the landscape.
He was working through a stream of consciousness, letting… the information flow through him.
The piece got set aside to get started on a few more pieces.
Nistka's artwork was and probably still is, influenced by a primal sensibility and one that was greatly informed by 15 years in Australia and his exposure to Aboriginal art.
The piece made its way through different studios and surroundings, from the Sunshine Coast to Melbourne, to Palm Springs, to L.A.
It was finally completed the piece in the early part of 2018...The layers of colors have adopted their very own identity.

Nistka's abstract style is derived from a constant reinvention of shapes and a reinterpretation of what seems indeterminate with his subconscious. The Italian artist, who resides in the United States, takes tribalism as a form of departure as he amalgamates the ancient with the present. Organic matter and shapes are the focal point of Nistka's works, as well as ancient symbolism, which he believes expresses the purest form of humanity.
