About this artwork
The project was born from a need for protest. Figurative art has always been a medium that
it acts as a spokesperson for stories that are often suppressed and marginalized, in the context of a society that
professes "in continuous becoming". The selection of body fragments is not random: it is a
visual manifesto, in poetic key, against the marginalization of minorities. Scars from
neoplasms, transgender traits and signs of physical violence are… mitigated by soft colors and
contemporaries, who take on an active role in the narration, becoming vehicles of
power. Visual political statements, calls for inclusion and fair representation are
the themes that embrace the semantic value contained in this narrative thread, which is
aims to catalyze a radical change that is now urgently needed.

Italy
Noemi Balata, born in L'Aquila in 1994, is a multidisciplinary artist with a strong background in freehand drawing, sculpture, watercolors and computer graphics. She uses contrasting techniques and recurring pastel color combinations in her studio 'Corpi Celesti', creating visually incisive works to explore the intersection between the body and the psyche. Her works, meticulous inlays of cotton, clay and pearls, convey a continuous investigation into the transience of life and the marriages between human and non-human, challenging the concepts of beauty and sensuality.
