About this artwork
Rising Silence captures the quiet power of a force that does not need to be loud to dominate.
At the center, a monumental formation rises—reminiscent of a mountain emerging through mist and time. Layers of grey and black create depth and weight, while subtle flows of red beneath the surface hint at hidden energy and inner tension.
Gold elements trace the movement like light touching the edges of form, elevating the composition with a refined, almost… sacred quality.
The surrounding white space gives the work room to breathe, emphasizing stillness, clarity, and presence. There is no chaos here—only controlled emergence.
This piece invites the viewer to slow down, to observe, and to feel the quiet strength within it.
Rising Silence is created for collectors who understand that true impact does not shout—it resonates.
More than two decades ago, Franziska and Mercedes Welte began their artistic collaboration in a small attic studio—driven by intuition, discipline, and a clear vision. From this emerged NONOS: a fusion of form and color into a distinctive contemporary visual language.
What began with early sculptural works evolved into a focused body of work with strong international relevance. Their practice units movement, lightness, and structural precision—positioned between sculpture, painting, and spatial experience.
Today, NONOS is present in international exhibitions, including the Biennale Arte Venice and Art Basel Week Miami. Their works speak a universal language and are valued by collectors, architects, and curators worldwide.
Their collaboration is defined by a unique duality: Franziska shapes form, Mercedes develops color—creating a precise dialogue. NONOS stands for a contemporary feminine avant-garde with lasting cultural and material significance.
