About this artwork
Norm returns to a series entitled The Vibratory Field, where waves of speckled colours begin to resemble more like impressionistic landscape. This is a return to a more calming period. The lower part of the painting is more raw and gestural, the middle group tightens with more controlled dabs of paint, meanwhile, the upper portion is occupied by a ribbon of colour ranging from blue to yellow, orange and red. It is the imaginary horizon in the mythical…
land of Arcadia. The words Arcadia, Love, Beauty, Harmony, Peace and Love, written in pencil appear on the top frame of the canvas.

« Painting to me is a vehicle of transcendence, where my internal emotions and energies are translated onto a two-dimensional surface, imbued with thoughts and feelings that have no words. »
