About this artwork
The title comes from classical Chinese poetry: “In the human world time hurries on, yet here mists and rosy clouds abound.” It celebrates a timeless sanctuary where daily haste dissolves into poetic beauty. Unlike a single scroll, this is a four-panel installation. The modular layout invites the viewer to wander freely between scenes, echoing traditional Chinese screen paintings while creating a modern rhythm. Executed on cardstock using gold-sinking… combined with layered mineral pigment coloring. The glowing gold base shines through translucent washes of azure, emerald, and crimson, giving the clouds and mists luminous depth and ethereal texture. The four panels portray an idealized “smoky-hued refuge” — a place of spiritual renewal, harmony with nature, and escape from worldly time. Blending Daoist/Buddhist ideals of transcendence with glowing contemporary aesthetics, this piece offers Western collectors a meditative, luminous experience that feels both ancient and modern.
Nova Shah, weaves traditional Chinese ink painting with Western oil painting. He skillfully unifies Eastern and Western artistic traditions under a modern lens, reaching audiences through innovative methods and promoting cross-cultural art appreciation. The works he is promoting echoes his belief in the evolution of traditional Chinese painting in the digital era while preserving its profound cultural roots.
He spent two decades bringing Western corporate discipline to China, managing multimillion-dollar R&D projects at Lucent Technologies and Microsoft. His job was to decode foreign systems and make them work locally。Today he runes the same playbook in reverse, for culture. Based in Jinan, he operates at the intersection of a twenty-year-old painting collective and cross-border digital platforms, building recognition for mid-career Chinese ink painters directly with European and North American collectors through livestreaming, independent e-commerce, and knowledge-based content.
