About this artwork
Three pine trees.
For centuries, they anchored the ground of the Villa Medici. Today they have disappeared. This triptych fixes them at the moment when they still existed — and records, in three parts, the physics of their existence: the force concentrated at the base, where the trunk negotiates with the earth its right to rise; then the energy that ascends, branches out, disperses toward increasingly fragile, increasingly exposed limbs.
What the… series shows is not the beauty of the tree—it's its energetic architecture. The matter that resists below, and the matter that trembles above.
