About this artwork
This original marble sculpture on a basalt base is a recent work by the contemporary Bulgarian sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, in which structure itself becomes the central language. Built from a precise yet seemingly fragmented arrangement of geometric volumes, the piece evokes a condensed architectural form, somewhere between an architectural construction in progress, and an imagined monument. The white marble blocks are deliberately stacked, interrupted,…
and displaced, creating a rhythm. Across this ordered system, vivid blue pigment descends in controlled drips, introducing an element of gravity and time, as if the structure is being activated and slowly transformed by an external force. It suggests a conscious deconstruction, a meditation on how form can be both stable and vulnerable, rational and poetic. The contrast between the permanence of stone and the fluidity of the blue liquid traces creates a dialogue between intention and nature.

Ognyan Chitakov is an established Bulgarian sculptor whose works have featured in national prizes and exhibitions. He loves sculpture for all the elements it allows him to gather together: form, space, function, architecture, design, engineering, technology and - above all - art. He primarily produces stone works that carry ancient and sacred connections, and whose scale ranges from the modest to the monumental.
