About this artwork
“Cabeza Olmeca Cuarteado” refers to the paintings of royalty in Europe, where they sought their permanence and power through their portrait. These characters have been modified by the passage of time, becoming ghostly, with scars of time, their eyes reflect absence.

« An artist in motion, I always like to experiment and evolve in my work, I consider myself a fun person, sometimes I like to be irreverent in my way of expressing myself. »
Pablo Benlliure is a painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Mexico whose main artistic themes are inspired by the art of African and pre-Hispanic cultures, which he views as sincere and pure. In addition, Benlliure combines elements of naive art to form his own genre, which he calls "Afroprehispánico lúdico". He hopes that the combination of these elements, paired with vibrant colors, will elicit joy in the viewer.
