About this artwork
"Bestiary C-19" is the largest artwork the artist Pacorrosa created during the 2020 lockdown in Córdoba. The piece is a physical and emotional testament to the three months of confinement, conceived as a pictorial catharsis using minimal resources: canvas, pigments, and markers.
The rampant bull, painted forcefully over a background grid of tempera and marker, symbolises the problems and uncertainty that plagued society at the time. In contrast,… the deer and the bee are intimate, recurring characters from the artist's universe, represented here as "best friends" and virtual confidants, trapped by the distance of the quarantine.
The work, which fuses different graphic languages and is intentionally left unfinished, conveys a fictitious sense of suspended time. It stands as a contemporary allegory that confronts personal emotion with the collective chaos experienced at the beginning of the Spring 2020 pandemic.
Pacorrosa Cuevas is a Spanish artist who fuses painting with technology, land art, 3D printing, and digital processes, backed by a solid training and over twenty-five years of international experience. His work navigates between the macrocosmic and microcosmic, employing techniques that reinterpret painting through virtual reality and sculpture, where color and composition interact with science and nature. His works convey a creative energy that invites us to decipher the profound connections between humanity, nature, and the universe.
