About this artwork
Drawing inspired by a glimpse of the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, through the perspective of the statues of the Rape of the Sabine Women and Hercules and the Centaur by Giambologna. But overall the view of Palazzo Vecchio, seat of the Municipality, dominates, representing the best synthesis of the city's fourteenth-century civil architecture and is one of the best-known civic buildings in the world. In creating this work I tried to capture the vital…
essence of expressionism and realism. Through pencil and ink I gave shape to the emotional tension, movement and strength of the figures, evoking the majesty and history of the scene represented. Each stroke is a heartbeat, each nuance a breath that gives life to my subjects, transmitting energy and intensity into every space that this drawing will inhabit.

Paola Imposimato is an award-winning painter and draftsman whose works have been extensively exhibited throughout her native Italy, as well as in Austria and France. She defines her artistic style as "contemporary Renaissance", as it has a solid figurative base that is also structured on Greco-Roman art. Imposimato is often inspired by portraiture (of real and imaginary characters), the range of human emotions, poetry, historical re-enactments, the world of music and theater.
