About this artwork
The work, in a contemporary figurative style, is inspired by some representative characters of the society of the 1400s: a mayor, a nun and people from various social backgrounds who embrace each other, manifesting their union and reconciliation. San Bernardino da Siena (1380 - 1444) stands in the middle of these figures, next to the emblem of the oriflamme, while contemplating and blessing their pacification. In the upper part are inserted architectural… symbols of the localities of Caravaggio and Treviglio, surmounted by a view of Massa Marittima that seems to connect the two cities: the painting, dedicated to the historical period in which these three cities reached reconciliation, is created in a set of a harmonic complex through balances of volumes and shapes, in a homogeneous chromatic realization expressed in a harmonious synthesis.
« 'Beauty will save the world' by Dostoevsky is a symbolic phrase for me because of the therapeutic, magical, and mysterious content inherent in the logic of art. »
