About this artwork
Painting in figurative expressionist style that the artist created inspired by "The Angel of Fire", a lyrical work written between 1919 and 1926 by Sergej Prokof'ev. The great Russian composer, conductor and pianist was inspired by the blasphemous novel of the Russian poet Valery Bryusov to create a visionary work, immersed in the climate of mystical esotericism so widespread in the Russian avant-garde of the early twentieth century, which translates… into the language now grotesque now hallucinated by the composer. A sulphurous hallucination between hysteria, demons and exorcisms set in the bowels of a crypt for a rare pearl of the twentieth century theater. Emblematic is the conflict between superstition and rationality that tears apart Renata, the young girl possessed by the desire for the fiery angel/demon, who lives and dies as a martyr. His is a spectacular and visionary nightmare that allows you to explore the parallel universe of dreams, the dark world of the mind haunted by ghosts.
« 'Beauty will save the world' by Dostoevsky is a symbolic phrase for me because of the therapeutic, magical, and mysterious content inherent in the logic of art. »
