About this artwork
Charlie "Bird" Parker accomplished jazz's most paradoxical achievement: crafting irresistible melodies at lightning speed, notes that hit with the weight of the inevitable. He was perhaps the most fluid saxophonist who ever lived—not simply a virtuoso, but a consciousness transformed into sound.
In this large acrylic, Parker is captured in a rare moment of stillness. He leans on his saxophone, arms folded, his gaze raised—detached, almost amused—as… if observing from above the effect of his music on the world. His expression conveys a quiet complexity: the awareness of a man who knows exactly what he has created.
The monochromatic palette—blacks, grays, and whites on a pure black background—is not a stylistic choice but a philosophical one. It strips away all the superfluous, leaving only the essential: the man, the instrument, the tension between chaos and order. Between the strong instincts of a tormented soul and the crystalline aesthetic discipline that transformed them into bebop.
Paolo Braccini, a painter with an academic and experimental background, combines tradition and innovation using ancient techniques, oil, acrylic, resins, enamels and plaster. His work reflects an incessant aesthetic research, reworking various themes, from introspection to the surrounding environment. The artist is inspired by man's ability to find pure communion with the world around him. Nature, together with music and the environment, is a source of introspection and contemplation. Through his art, he tries to represent these moments of profound connection and to explore how man can recognize himself and find himself in different natural situations. It conveys the ambivalence of human emotions, between reassuring order and the charm of chaos.
