Facing this horizon of heavy clouds, I wanted to capture the moment when history is laid bare. It is not simply a portrait of the Château de Val that I present here, but that of a world breathing between two waters. The receding of the Bort-les-Orgues lake has revealed an unexpected mineral landscape, a cracked and rocky earth that seems to belong to another age. By placing my lens close to these dark strata, I sought to create a dialogue of textures:… the roughness of the ancient stone responding to the hardness of the once-submerged soil.
In this composition, I sought to convey a form of fantastical melancholy. The castle no longer overlooks a peaceful expanse; it stands like a solitary sentinel amidst silent chaos. Through this interplay of textures and dramatic lighting, I invite the viewer to reflect on what remains when the familiar setting vanishes.
I look with curiosity at the world around me, capturing the diversity of life through landscapes, fauna, flora, and humanity. My work doesn't seek to document reality in a raw way, but rather to reveal its hidden poetry. With the camera, my intention is profoundly pictorial. I consider the act of taking a photograph as a sketch, a foundation that I then sculpt digitally. Self-taught, I have developed my own technique through the exploration of digital tools (Lightroom and Photoshop), which serve as my palette and brushes. My goal is to erase the boundary between photography and painting. By working with textures, light, and contrasts, I seek to give my images a timeless, almost dreamlike atmosphere. Through my portraits and landscapes, I invite the viewer to slow down and perceive nature not as mere scenery, but as a living painting.
