About this artwork
Standing before Water Pleasure, the first thing I feel is the tranquility emanating from the canvas. A few strokes, clear lines, and yet every detail tells a story. The water, reduced to soft shades of blue, flows almost meditatively, as if mirroring my thoughts. I immerse myself in the emptiness between the planes and realize that minimalism here doesn't mean austerity, but rather bestows clarity. Every drop, every reflection is deliberately placed;… nothing is accidental. I notice myself slowing down, my breath aligning with the rhythm of the painting. The simplicity compels me to look closely, to discover the subtle nuances that would be lost in an overloaded work. Water Pleasure is like a breath at the sea: still, vast, pure. I lose myself in the balance of space and color, feel joy without much happening—and therein lies its full intensity. I want to hold onto this feeling; it stays with me like a gentle ripple.
Patricia von Andersen-Hausen is a contemporary abstract artist from Düsseldorf, Germany, whose work captures the essence of minimalism. Her art is deeply connected to nature, particularly water and the sea, as well as the harmonic structures of classical music. She studied fine arts at Poznan University of the Arts, KLC School of Design, West Dean College, Yale University, Bradford University, Mozarteum Salzburg, Leeds Conservatoire, and the Free University of Berlin. In her art, she explores the interplay of simplicity and complexity, using a reduced palette to investigate form, color, and material. She currently works with liquid media such as ink, watercolor, and diluted acrylic paint on paper or natural materials, with serendipity being an integral part of her creative process. Her works create tranquil, meditative spaces that offer viewers moments of contemplation and inner peace.
