About this artwork
Marble Island shows a small Mediterranean island on the south coast of Spain. In the background you can see an Italian marble quarry near Pietrasanta. The otherwise orderly mining of geometric stone blocks dissolves into pure white and the actually black island in the Mediterranean seems to consist of flesh.
