About this artwork
Gershwin Tune is three layered digital pattern. The original patterns are from wallpaper and fabric samples, which were digitally altered. When projecting the digital image, I was thinking about compositional concerns, and keeping the balance of the patterns as well as where color might fit with the newly formed shapes. The title come of the song of the same title. I heard it from a Robin Williams move where he is sings. I hope you enjoy.

« Our perception of color is an illusion. What we perceive/see on a surface is the absence/void or rejection of a color. »
Patrick Schmidt is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally and in Italy. Principally inspired by Op art, he believes that color changes our moods and that colors and patterns alter our identities. Schmidt describes his vivid works as hard-edge color fields with a digital sensibility that explores the language of geometric abstraction.
