About this artwork
The structure is abstracted from broken vinyl pieces, and disfigured shapes in a circular form are integral to the initial appeal, which I reshape further in play, repurposing the mechanisms and tailoring each version from my rough lens. My interest in architecture, graphics, printing, painting, and film helped amalgamate my interdisciplinary process, modifying these ready-made into new non-functioning media.

Paul Leibow is an experienced American painter whose works have been exhibited throughout the US. He grew up with a father for an artist and a mother who enrolled him in local art classes as early as the age of 5, starting his artistic exploration young. After being classically trained in painting and drawing, Leibow started to find his voice and style using bold graphics and abstracting invented vintage characters. He experiments with mixed media contextualizing critical issues from the public citizenry and the roots of pop media with social interaction.
A documentary art film he co-directed was selected for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His work is in several art books and exhibitions selected by curators from the Whitney Museum and Met, he has also worked with recording artist Bruce Springsteen creating art for his world tour. Leibow is setting up his biggest exhibition to date, a solo show at the Monmouth Museum with an opening on August 2nd, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
