About this artwork
Whenever I look at these drawings with their free association of images, I get new insight into the world. They should be explored as much as viewed for their surprising juxtapositions, color, movement, and cubist perspectives. I see anti-war statements, homages to other artists, joy, celebration of the working class. The signature swirling candy was Paul’s nod to his childhood, when he watched movies, WWII and cowboy, with his Dad.

Manhattan artist Paul Spina (1937-2017) was a masterful painter and visual artist with a BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
