I think of this painting as a study of time and movement. The signature candy motif moves the viewer through space while the retreating perspective takes one back in time. Or to the distant furture. The eternal sea. It is not a philosophical discussion. Rather, it is a visceral journey.

Manhattan artist Paul Spina (1937-2017) was a masterful painter and visual artist with a BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
