A small oil on linen canvas depicting the Grand Canal in Venice, c.1900. Delicately detailed yet retaining some fluid and impressionistic brushwork. Supplied ready to hang in an exquisite bespoke frame carefully selected to set off the painting. Exterior frame size: 28 x 34 cm.
So many artists have been inspired to paint the unique vistas of Venice and on a recent trip there the artist came across the paintings of an Italian artist. The watercolours… by Alberto Prosdocimi, 1852 - 1925 are truly magical and certainly inspiring. His portrayals of the city capture so well the light and atmosphere and in a time before the plethora of modern canal traffic.
