About this artwork
Painted to create a warm and atmospheric tranquil seascape with an historical subject matter. Technically a top sail schooner, sometimes known as a top gallant-yard schooner. Schooners like this, usually around 300 tons, in a sense represented the final development of the merchant schooner and were still being used well into the twentieth century.
This original oil painting follows a traditional style of marine painting and subject much favoured… by the artist and appreciated by many collectors. The painting is quite detailed where necessary to create an accurate depiction of the tall ship and in other areas of the canvas takes on a more impressionistic mood.
This painting is offered for sale, completely ready to hang in a wide light cream coloured frame with an outer edge of natural wood. Please note that this painting could also be purchased without the frame, there would be a small reduction in price.
