“Light meets Dark” by Peter Knauer is an abstract acrylic painting on canvas. The haptic structure is created by numerous layers of color and strong brushstrokes as well as Knauer's technique of tape collage and decollage.
The viewer's eye is drawn to a beam of light shining through the crack of an open door into a dark room,… where steps and a window are suggested. The painting reflects the duality of light and darkness in human life. The geometric shapes symbolize the search for structure and order, while the abstract nature represents the often elusive reality of this search. "Light Meets Dark" invites the viewer to interpret space, light and color and discover personal meanings.
