This painting was made as part of a big project, called 'Timeline'. In this project, thirty artists each portrayed one or more chosen historical highlights in one of the thirty years in this timeline, 1989 till 2018. The artist of this painting chose the year 1997, because this is the year famous Italian fashion king Gianni Versace was shot dead by serial killer Andrew Cunanan, and fashion is the most important inspiration for this artist.
