This painting is built almost like a sculpture. The color is applied with knife to create depth and texture to the surface. - The piece is one in a series of works called "Camino de la huerta de Juan Pobre" which means the way to Juan Pobre’s garden. Pia Andersen's works have been featured in solo exhibitions in her native Denmark, as well as in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Egypt, Norway, and Germany. Nature and light are her principal inspirations, though she does not seek its realistic portrayal. Instead, Andersen's paintings create a nature of their own, highlighting the positive side of living. Her artistic process is lengthy, as she takes her time building up many layers of oils on canvas.
