About this artwork
"Upright 9" belongs to a series of my works in which the vertical is emphasized in the composition. Upright, liberating, and striving upwards.
To create a vibrant, relief-like surface, I work with sand, acrylic paint and pigments, which, when mixed with acrylic binder, dry to form a solid surface.
The color scheme is mostly in warm and bright earth tones, which correspond very well to the material sand.
Thus, the images combine earthliness with… the simultaneous striving upwards towards heaven.
