The abstraction is due very partly to chance and each motif of this shield is worked with the breath of the artist which interferes with the still wet acrylic ink.

Pierre Soufflet is an artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, Taiwan, China, Luxembourg, Italy, and South Korea. He describes his works as being influenced and inspired by the "primitive arts" and art brut. A self-taught artist, Soufflet's distinctive portraits focus on the eyes and mouths of his characters.
