About this artwork
This painting is a pop surrealist partial self portrait. It is a whimsical, existential examination of isolation, depression, and escapism through humor. Painted during a period where I had my betta fish "Nucky" keeping me company while I worked out some personal issues. It is a cool and serene piece, with hard, sharp illustrative lines and beautiful shades of blue. I loved the idea of my beautiful fish escaping to his freedom, while I was the one…
actually caught in the fish bowl.
