Traces of souvenirs of 2 models from strip clubs in Pigalle that contacted me for work in my series wavelength undertaken in the 80s in Paris. They had apparently got my name from a contemporary dance studio in Paris. They were so enthusiastic about having a chance to do some serious modeling that I decided to do a session with them even though I knew at the time that I would not be using the photos for my series. Three decades later for my series… “Cartes Postales de …” the images emerged from my files as the basis for a postcard from Pigalle.

Navigating multiple mediums - moving from postgraduate studies in economic theory to a career as an internationally lauded photographer, conceptual new media artist and composer, canadian R. Scott MacLeay's career is richly varied. His artworks are marked by controlled yet spontaneous abstractions, stirred by his fascination for the unpredictability of interference, as he juxtaposes often-fragmented layers of figurative content, textures and colors. Embodying ambiguity, doubt, and contradiction, his creations prompt an intimate exploration of the human condition not always rooted in comfort, but instead in the provocative realm of artistic discomfort. His work focuses on exploring evolving enigmatic situations of everyday life rather than capturing decisive moments, a concept he finds fortuitous and largely aesthetically motivated in photographic work. He lives and works by the motto "If you know precisely where you are going ... change course".
