About this artwork
This piece began as one of a large series of ink drawings produced in the mid-80s as exercises in spontaneous creation. In 1988/89, I realised that some of the pieces contained specific elements that could be treated with photographic software to produce works that were of interest to my explorations at that time. I created the pieces, but unfortunately, the treatments available at that time were not able to guarantee the quality of the chromatic…
environments I was seeking and so I put he work on hold. Over the years I made several unsuccessful attempts to achieve my goal until in 2011 I finalized work on this piece and several others, generating the chromatic and textural transformations in the digital domain. The work reflects my affection for the minimalist abstractions of oriental origins.

Navigating multiple mediums - moving from postgraduate studies in economic theory to a career as an internationally lauded photographer, conceptual new media artist and composer, canadian R. Scott MacLeay's career is richly varied.
