A fish, symbol of the soul, on dry land. A point in life, a life situation. This symbolic metaphor is a central theme in Ralf Schmidt's work.
I used translucent, liquid acrylic paints, sometimes mixed with Indian ink, applied with a brush to handmade paper. The size of the handmade paper with the drawing is 29 x 36 cm, delivered with a passe-partout in the size 40 x 50 cm.

Ralf Schmidt is an experimented German artist whose paintings have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in the Netherlands. His figurative works portray inner realities, as well as individual aspects and situations that connect with "collective feeling". Schmidt's compositions have their own unique image structure, wherein the motif represented in the middle is "torn from the original context".
