About this artwork
Inspired by abstract movement combined with neat mathematical shape. Colors cages like an animal within the boundaries of the X. It is filled with contrast, both in color as in shape which is an ongoing search for me, day in day out. In this piece I wanted to capture all the loose shapes and color in an easy recognizable shape. By adding subtle shading a new layer arises. It feels like there is a complete painting hidden underneath the white.
And… it isn't that white at all, cause there are several colors showing through the white. And around all the mildly colored shapes there are ants all over the painting. Little semi-realistic painted ants, which do not catch the eye of the viewer at all. Unless you don't have the guts to come closer.
The base of the painting is painted wildly, in a expressionistic way. Loads of paint and color. It is a magnificent blend of abstract expressionism and pop art.
