About this artwork
The image is a symbolic allusion to the exploitation of our planet. It also indirectly references "The Little Prince," the famous story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Both are placed in a context.
This is a painting on the back of a previously painted canvas. The edges may fray. The canvas can be rolled up if needed. This ephemeral nature of the work is intentional.
Painting the reverse side of the canvas and hanging it without a stretcher frame… is a recurring theme in my work. I'm interested in detaching the image and making it free and flexible. An aluminum rod is incorporated at the top and bottom. Two eyelets serve for hanging.
Rebekka Kraft works with painting and object art; she brings a rich background in photography, gallery work, and studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Her technique is diverse: she combines figurative, process-oriented, illustrative, and symbolic-surrealist styles, with intuition and experimentation at the heart of her work. Her pieces convey hope, reconciliation, and a deep encouragement to explore hidden connections between the inner and outer worlds.
