The ouroborus is an ancient symbol for the cyclical nature of the universe and the unity of all things. It describes the cycle of becoming and passing away, in which the end simultaneously brings about a new beginning. In psychology and mysticism, it is considered a symbol for a self-contained being that nourishes and renews itself from within. In my work, processes of transformation and symbolism, which always carries a personal nuance, play a significant… role.
My work isn't primarily created with the intention of selling it, but rather because I have an urge or a desire to make it. That's why I sometimes use the backs or remnants of other works without hesitation. For example, I integrate torn or uneven edges into a new paper piece. The awkwardness and the handling of discarded material inspire me.
Rebekka Kraft works with painting and object art; she brings a rich background in photography, gallery work, and studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Her technique is diverse: she combines figurative, process-oriented, illustrative, and symbolic-surrealist styles, with intuition and experimentation at the heart of her work. Her pieces convey hope, reconciliation, and a deep encouragement to explore hidden connections between the inner and outer worlds.
