About this artwork
As part of the series Reconsidered Artifacts, Swim Spot reimagines the photograph as not only an artifact of documentation, but also as a medium ripe for invention. By emphasizing, rather than correcting, the electronic signatures of digital processing, I use digital artifacts as catalysts for imagination and emotion.
This piece made me want to walk over the soft stones to my favorite nature bath.
The works in this series are made to order on… high-quality fine art paper, mounted to Alu-Dibond, and bonded to lustrous, acrylic glass. The production time is within fourteen business days, but it is usually faster. I prefer the glass-like acrylic because it best presents the vibrancy and detail in the prints. If you prefer a matte acrylic to diminish reflection, just let me know.
Reed Hearne is a photographer and digital artist with a background in graphic design and fiction writing. He employs intuitive digital manipulation and photographic techniques to transform the ordinary into painterly compositions, discarding mental labels to reveal unfamiliar perspectives. His work radiates a sense of wonder, inviting viewers to find beauty and awe in the seemingly mundane while challenging them to question preconceived realities.
