About this artwork
My artistic material is wood; in my work KNICK I also used metal and cement. I strip the wood of its bark before attacking it with a variety of instruments: drills, grinders, welding torches, and flames. I love the carbonized surface of wood, which is often used on wooden facades in Japan. I treat the wooden surfaces with a special UV varnish; this does not rub off. By working on the surfaces, I give the work the presence it needs. This is not a…
ritual of release, but rather a matter of calm, because the tension in these works lies in the dialectic of form and process. Home is a place full of memories; a mixture of objects, pictures, and furniture that mean something, that are part of your own personality.
