About this artwork
This picture was taken in Sicily, where the scirocco wind blows over the sand from Africa. In her studio on a Sicilian island, the painter has put the African sand directly into the picture and combined it with the volcanic sand of the Stromboli knows no boundaries.

Renée Strecker is a prize-winning German painter and draftsman who seeks to make the aura visible through the dialogue between oil and paint. As a master student, she learned classical painting techniques in Berlin. Through the evolution of her work, Strecker creates her own artistic language. She continuously looks for new techniques and materials to test the limits of what is technically possible for the interpretation of her own reality, and enjoys the process of experimentation.
