About this artwork
My inspiration came from a rusty, dented piece of sheet iron. I attempted to capture the colors and textures of machine embroidery on dyed linen. All the pieces were strung onto a framework of welding wire and connected to it using freehand embroidery. Since not all surfaces were covered, I used a variety of threads to create a woven-like structure. Due to the shape of the wire frame, the piece can be displayed horizontally or vertically, depending…
on the available space and personal preference. Wall mounting is also possible thanks to the frame.

Renate Motycka works with textile materials, expressing her deep roots in textile art through a solid education and many years of experience. Her freehand machine embroidery technique is reduced to the essentials, characterized by clear forms, minimalist use of color, and three-dimensional effects, inspired by Bauhaus, Cubism, and Constructivism. Her works radiate tranquility, harmony, and a meditative flow, inviting viewers to leave everyday life behind and lose themselves completely in the sensual language of fabric and thread.
