About this artwork
I juxtaposed two contrasting colors—black and white. As they penetrate, blend, and intertwine, a sense of movement arises between them. This is created by the machine stitches and the small areas of fabric that extend into the other. My aim was to achieve the most balanced fusion of black and white possible. To give the piece stability, I stitched it onto fine raw linen, which forms an interesting contrast to the embroidery (50 x 107 cm).

Renate Motycka works with textile materials, expressing her deep roots in textile art through a solid education and many years of experience. Her freehand machine embroidery technique is reduced to the essentials, characterized by clear forms, minimalist use of color, and three-dimensional effects, inspired by Bauhaus, Cubism, and Constructivism. Her works radiate tranquility, harmony, and a meditative flow, inviting viewers to leave everyday life behind and lose themselves completely in the sensual language of fabric and thread.
