"Explosives" is a large plein-air abstract painting, created inb Italy during an Artist Residence.
The painting is strictly abstract, yet references a pinkish brownisf form floating in space against a dark cloud, with white flashes setting the canvas in motion.
The forms are definite yet indistinct, with subtle transitions of color dominant.
The white slash sets the work on fire, relating to a John Singer Sargent painting I encountered at the… MFA Boston, with a white gash the central focus.
The pinks are toned down with green to soften the coloration of the main field.
This is a color field work, created in a tine when the world seems to be on fire...
