About this artwork
It represents the rich heritage of African descent in the Caribbean, a theme that deeply inspires my work. I truly enjoyed not only the artistic journey but also the meaningful interaction and connection with the community throughout the experience.
Rigo Peralta is a Dominican-born painter, printmaker, and visual artist whose surrealist background fuses Caribbean vibrancy with global sophistication. He masterfully combines raw and synthetic materials, layering textured brushstrokes and intricate printmaking, to unite human anatomy with mystical and mechanical forms in a style he terms “conditioned surrealism.” His artworks brim with drama and symbolism, awakening viewers to a tapestry of hidden elements and inviting deep reflection on memory, identity, and the complex dualities of modern life—evoking both celebration and awe.
