About this artwork
This painting was created when I was focused on painting only portraits, this was my first piece to explore using dried paint as part of painting. Red Patchwork depicts a period of dramatic change in my life.

Rika Maja Duevel is a painter/mixed media artist from Stavanger, Norway living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Her artwork manifests from her daily experiences, capturing the moment through an introverted lens. A focus on her own female experience and the journey and deeper research into the concept of the Introverted Artist, the unseen soul. An Artist in Residence in Barcelona, Granada, Spain, Ardèche, France, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Guest Artist Lecturer at the University of Amsterdam’s Business School (UVA), published in the “50 Artists to Watch 2023” and “50 Artists to Discover 2025” by the Florence Contemporary Gallery, and named one of the “Top 30 Influential Women Entrepreneurs to Watch Out For in 2025” by NY Weekly Magazine.
