About this artwork
This painting was created using a bottom layer of netting to add structure and pattern. Several layers of molding paste and gel medium was layered over with a palette knife to add additional texture and layers. After I complete this process I decide which colors I want in the piece. This piece was completed with ultramarine blues, brilliant blue, many shades of red, yellows and whites. I begin each painting of active mark making or a general…
under painting letting the composition emerge organically during the process. This middle stage of the painting I go back and forth adding and subtracting elements until a composition emerges on the canvas. The final layer is completed with a colored stucco texture and white mica flakes to give the piece shine and movement and weight. The entire piece is coated in a gloss finish to secure and protect the painting. This is a gallery wrapped canvas with all edges painted black and the artist signature is signed on the right edge.
