About this artwork
This painting was created by my mother, Sarah Poorter, a well known artist in the Netherlands back in the nineties. She (at the age of 80!) still enjoys painting and created this acrylic piece only recently. It is kept safely in her house in Berlin as she does not promote any of her paintings. I believe the painting deserves a broader audience and I'm therefore happy to promote it via this platform. Here she was inspired by my, her son, painting…
ice creams. She created one of her own, quite a unique piece.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Robert-Jan Poorter is a self-taught painter working primarily in oil on canvas, sometimes incorporating acrylic backgrounds. He masterfully blends figurative neo-pop art with symbolic visual narratives, crafting compositions that oscillate between illusion and reality. His technique vividly captures the innocence of childhood clashing with the disillusionment of adulthood, particularly in his NiceCream series. Through these evocative, candy-colored worlds, he explores the ephemeral nature of happiness, filling his works with both playful optimism and a quiet, poignant melancholy that gently lingers with the viewer.
