About this artwork
In crafting this abstract painting, I melded oil, wax, tempera, and ink with pigments, golden leaf, and marble powder to evoke a sense of ancient mystery and divine illumination. I sought to capture the ethereal glow and textured depth reminiscent of celestial realms, using a subtle, shimmering palette. This artwork symbolizes the dawning of enlightenment and the serene beauty of creation, meant to infuse any space with a tranquil, yet profound energy.
Robert Kachel, with a background as a technical illustrator, uses canvas, pen and marble powder mixed with bone glue, among other materials. His unconventional approach combines traditional materials and modern techniques, while playing with reactions and destruction that occur during the painting process. Through intuitive painting, Kachel reflects emotions and situations, with hidden stories beneath layers of high-quality pigments and inks, often enriched by a touch of clinging gold leaf.
