About this artwork
Abstracted landscape exploring how oil paint behaves when applied horizontally and vertically on to plywood.
This series of paintings were produced during lockdown. Being unable to work or socialise properly, relief from the anxiety of Covid19 and the lockdown has come in the form of routine: coffee, exercise, painting, eat, sleep. This regimented daily practice has helped to me to plan new goals and refocus on art. The paintings themselves are… an expression of this, as they require intense concentration and many repetitive actions -reflecting the routine of my daily life.
Supplied unframed but ready to hang. Signed on reverse.

« Highly disciplined and dedicated to experimentation, my current practice explores the relationship between paint and movement. »
Influenced graphical elements such as maps and pixelated images, and graphs, the grid system plays an important role in Robert Padley's current works. The painter and photographer, who is based in the United Kingdom, endeavors to recreate these images in paint while also representing landscapes that he finds interesting, including seascapes and foggy beaches. Padley explores the way oils "behave" when applied both horizontally and vertically, akin to weaving with paint.
