About this artwork
When I see something that interests me, either because of its story or its form, I like to use it as a jumping off place, a focus, a direction. The other objects in a work are somewhat determined by this focus. Here, blowing stuff away, leaving the basics. Like Plato's shadows, hinted at on the far right, concepts and drawings are being blown away, leaving the artist (person) as the reality. "I art, therefore I am," paraphrasing Descartes. The background…
is not really a background, but represents the flow of time and action which is the basis, the ground, for all the images in the work.
Robert Stanley
United States
A Physics student turned painter and digital artist, Robert Stanley deeply intertwines philosophy and poetry within his work. His eclectic style straddles the realistically observed and abstract, revealing hidden motifs derived from various surroundings. Stanley's art is a remarkable manifestation of the symbiosis of chaos and order, evoking a captivating meshing of emotion and enigma.
The “background” is the ground of our existence, the cosmic flow of time in which contemporary events existosmos. The relationship of the elements and ground emphasizes our place in the c, as Heraclitus said, “You can never step into the same river twice.”
