About this artwork
Following Ballard’s painting “Pasión” she began “Bouquet”, again depicting flowers that seem to be captured in a state of movement. Here, two colorful groupings of flowers appear to be moving in opposite directions across the canvas. The background is painted in thin layers of blue acrylic paint, which evoke a sense of water in which floral imagery shimmers from its depths. At first glance, the painting’s subject is easily recognizable, but then…
with further reflection it morphs into a surreal world, where flowers are depicted small then oversized, where they are intact or at the point of fragmentation. The painting is a unique interpretation of floral painting.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
